Oh, I was just listening to some P-Funk on my way home from work. I like good music like this. A lot of music now is just a poorly made remake of music from the 60's and 70's.

Don't forget Al Green.

Left MJ off because...because, well there was that time he touched me.
Left Prince off because he never went anywhere.
Seal? Didn't think about him. He's not funky. LOL! HE ok got a couple songs I like.

come on are you serious??? I'll admit they have a few good joints, but we're talkin about REAL music here. Back when people used to write their own songs and play their own instuments. Nobody is gonna be talkin about those 2 cats 30 years from now....

lol everyday yall old heads pop the same shit, and thats the same nonsense ya parents prolly was popping when yall was running round wearing tight jeans with a jerry curl sanging rick james hits

"ohhh real music this and no one writes their own music that and plays real instruments yadda yadda"

the cycle of melodramatic whining continues, all music is creation and you wanna talk real, them old cats didnt write their own shit just was lucky to have a nice voice and someone who could pen hot shit for them. I like old shit just as much as the next guy but real come on now...

The days of self contained artists...especially performance based talent...bands, are fr beyond us. Youth doesnt get together to"jam" anymore except to rap. All the major labels are real open to putting out a band,....but none surface. My IPOD is full o jams from the 70's, the real era of R&B to me.

I used to love H.E.R. until about 1996. After that music has just been a hook and a beat...but I noticed that if an artist actually comes out and has REAL emotion in their tracks people will like that more than the hook and beat!

For instance:
Jill Scott's Albums for the R&B people
Outkast's Albums for the Hip Hop people
Gregory Isaacs Albums for the Reggae people

Don't you agree?

The artists that have been previously mentioned put REAL emotion into their music and that is why we love it and continue to love it. REAL emotion doesn't fade away and when others feel it, they really FEEL it.

I'm an 80's a child, who didn't listen to music until the mid 90's I like old stuff, especially Billy Holiday, but hip hop has a part of my soul. More like Hip Hop/Rock, but anyway it speaks to me more than songs about love, partying, being drugged out. And yes, HH and Rock are full of those things, but I love my Mary J, John Legend (he's got a old school thing going), J Scott, Linkin Park....oh and I love MM, and teddy P might get you play, but MM could get you laid (by me)....Anyway...my two cents.

Did anybody name Patty LaBelle, Aretha Franklin, GLadys Knight, Chaka Chan, Lenny Williams, or Parliment. I like old school as well as some new. Music is about more than a smooth beat and catchy lyric, it has to move your soul as well.
